Anavitor LCA 2.1 Released: Enhancements for Sustainable Construction

Anavitor LCA 2.1 Released: Enhancements for Sustainable Construction
4:25

Happy to announce the release of Anavitor LCA 2.1, featuring significant enhancements to meet evolving regulatory requirements and industry needs in sustainable construction. The update introduces comprehensive Stage B support, UI improvements, and performance optimizations, demonstrating the company's commitment to advancing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) capabilities for construction professionals.

Stage B Support: Meeting Regulatory Requirements

The standout feature of this release is the full support for Stage B assessments, which covers building maintenance and replacement impacts. This timely update addresses growing regulatory requirements, particularly in markets like Norway with TEK17 regulations.

"Our team has worked tirelessly to develop Anavitor LCA to meet the market's evolving demands," says Kristoffer Jeppsson, Director of R&D at Anavitor. "The implementation of Stage B support was prioritized based on regulatory developments across the Nordic region and beyond. This update also prepares our system architecture for future expansion into Stages C and D as regulations continue to advance."

The new dedicated "B2, B4" UI page consolidates LCA data for maintenance and replacement modules, showing impacts separately and in total. Users can now view interval information, events during Stage B, quantities, and units for each environmental resource in their projects.

Enhanced BIM Integration

A notable improvement in version 2.1 is the enhanced BIM integration capability, with EPD Registration Numbers now populated back to the BIM Model. This feature allows for better documentation in schedules and BIMx, with multiple EPDs separated by semicolons.

"LCA calculations have become increasingly important in the building industry, not just for compliance but as a fundamental design consideration," explains Xenofon Lemperos, LCA Expert at Anavitor. "The true power of Anavitor LCA lies in its seamless two-way integration with Archicad, allowing real-time environmental impact assessments during the design phase. This latest release strengthens that integration, adding value to the BIM model itself."

Performance and User Experience Improvements

The release also delivers significant performance enhancements thanks to cloud-native optimizations. Calculations, page switching, and property updates now operate faster, improving overall workflow efficiency.

User experience improvements include:

  • Streamlined navigation with the ability to return to the project page by clicking the Anavitor LCA logo
  • Prioritized display of Global Warming Potential (GWP) in the LCA Tree
  • Contextual activation of the EPD Finder
  • Enhanced report information management
  • Improved dialog responsiveness for better usability on smaller screens

Norwegian TEK17 Support

In response to regional requirements, Anavitor LCA now supports a generic Norwegian TEK17 report template. This addition is particularly important as TEK17 regulations require B2 and B4 reporting, aligning perfectly with the new Stage B capabilities.

Looking Ahead

"Looking forward, our roadmap is closely aligned with the regulatory push toward full life cycle transparency," says Jeppsson. "With our architecture now prepared for Stages C and D, we're positioned to continue enhancing Anavitor LCA to meet tomorrow's sustainability challenges. The construction industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation toward circular economy principles, and our tools must evolve to support this transition."

Lemperos adds, "The focus on harmonization and global standards remains central to our development philosophy. As LCA becomes more integral to decision-making processes across the industry, having tools that support consistent, comparable assessments becomes essential. Our upcoming developments will continue to strengthen data quality indicators and expand integration capabilities with emerging formats and standards."

The Anavitor LCA 2.1 release is now available to all users. No update of the BIM Software Add-On is needed for this release, and users can continue with their existing version. Anavitor will be providing additional workflow documentation to help users take full advantage of the new features.
